Ivy Walker (they/them) is a lighting designer and director based in New York, NY. They recently earned their Bachelor of Fine Arts from Oklahoma City University, where they majored in Theatrical Design & Production with an emphasis in Lighting Design and Technology and a minor in Directing.

Lighting Design and Directing may seem like two very different mediums, but to Ivy, they are both different ways of communicating to an audience what is most important in the text through selective focus, emphasis, and mood.

Ivy has always loved the theatre, and began as an actor. When the Covid-19 pandemic hit, they took a year off from school and worked variously as a lighting designer, assistant director, stage manager, and set designer at home in north Texas, which is when they discovered their love for lighting design and directing. They are a passionate storyteller with a strong focus on LGBTQ+ and feminist issues.

When Ivy isn’t working backstage in the theatre, they can usually be found in the audience of one. On the rare occasions they aren’t, they love listening to music, crafting, watching Supernatural, or spending time with friends and family.
